Tholakele Centre of Hope therapeutic programmes are designed to assist children to come to terms with the trauma of being removed from their families as well as to help them achieve a sense of emotional, physical and social wellbeing. It is noted that children respond differently to trauma and their reactions vary with age, maturity and exposure to the trauma. It is therefore essential that the appropriate therapeutic method be used with the children in order for the healing process to begin.
The center is supported by the services of qualified and full time Social Workers and Child and Youth Care Workers. They ensure that the following programmes are offered:
The center is situated on a 1.9 hectare plot where we grow crops and make profit from our vegetable garden and poultry farming to keep the center sustainable. This provides food security to the center and skills development to the older children. Employment will be created for local community in turn alleviating poverty. The center aims to achieve these income-generating activities as well as ensuring that our volunteer program has developed to ensure continuous services and fundraising activities are continuous to ensure sustainability.
